Job description

About Aphex

Aphex transforms traditional construction planning by replacing outdated spreadsheet systems with collaborative, multiplayer tools favored by delivery teams. Leading contractors such as Acciona, CPB Contractors, John Holland, and McConnell Dowell rely on Aphex to execute projects ranging from £50 million to billion-pound megaprojects. Active primarily in Australia and the UK, Aphex supports the development of critical infrastructure including roads, rail, tunnels, and hospitals used daily by millions.

Role Overview

We seek a Product Manager to lead our Insight & Data segment — the measurement foundation of Aphex's platform. Reporting directly to the Head of Product, you will head a flexible squad of approximately six engineers. This role centers on leveraging Aphex's unparalleled dataset capturing fine-grained, structured records of project execution — not just planned activities but daily realities including coordination, progress, constraints, and discrepancies between plan and outcome.

The hypothesis guiding this role is that behaviors such as publishing cadence, daily coordination, and status discipline are prime indicators of project success. Your focus will be to quantify, score, and analyze these routines, helping predict project performance — an area not previously tackled in construction.

Key Stakeholders

  • End Users: Your insights must integrate seamlessly into existing workflows to influence onsite behavior, delivering routine-health scores that project teams act upon and executive-level organizational insights that are trusted.
  • Internal Teams: Your data measurement serves as the factual backbone for Aphex's product decisions, aiding product managers in evaluating activation, feature success, and routine adoption without needing personalized reports.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the core metrics representing project and user behavior, including score generation, daily activities, and routine health taxonomy.
  • Oversee the data platform architecture: pipelines, aggregation models, and APIs enabling user and AI tool access.
  • Develop evaluation frameworks for AI agents utilizing this data.
  • Manage administrative interfaces like consoles, organizational insights, report sharing, and data access requests end-to-end.
  • Drive behavioral activation and ensure project engagement through measurement instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with Planner and Diary teams by providing signal contracts, though they own the daily-cycle workflow execution and rendering.
  • Conduct full-cycle delivery: from discovery and specification writing through to quality assurance and launch with your engineering team.
  • Make informed daily decisions regarding scope, timeline, and quality trade-offs.
  • Work cross-functionally with Customer Success and Solution Engineers to tailor data usage to client needs.
  • Advocate evidence-based decision-making throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • Experience in defining measurement systems and working closely with data infrastructure or data science teams.
  • Proven product ownership managing a platform or product area end-to-end, including strategic direction and execution.
  • Technical expertise sufficient to critically review engineering estimates and project sequencing.
  • Successful track record in shipping data-centric products, platforms or analytics tools with a strong emphasis on quality.
  • Comfortable working in remote-first environments with clear documentation and proactive communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in behavioral analytics, activation/retention measurement, or product-led growth.
  • Experience with AI/agent products and their evaluation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with vertical SaaS platforms or industrial/construction sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster data-driven cultures internally, beyond just customer-facing metrics.

What This Role Is Not

  • It is not focused on producing dashboards but integrating measurement signals into user workflows.
  • It is not a purely strategic role — active hands-on execution and delivery are essential.
  • This position reports directly to the Head of Product, retaining full ownership without intermediate management layers.
  • Briefs may be ambiguous initially, requiring you to define solutions rather than execute fully established plans.

Benefits

  • Flexible remote working aligned with UK and Australian time zones, including access to WeWork facilities.
  • Annual fully paid international team retreats; previous destinations include Vietnam and Thailand.
  • Social budget allocated for employee engagement.
  • £500 yearly reimbursement for training and participation in an Emerging Leaders program.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Access to MindFi Employee Assistance Program for wellbeing support.
  • Employee Referral Incentive Program.
  • Welcome package including branded Lego set and Aphex swag.

Equality and Inclusion Statement

We celebrate diverse perspectives that enrich our company and encourage candidates to apply regardless of whether they meet every listed criterion.
