Job description
About Hey Bubba!
Hey Bubba! specializes in AI-driven back-office automation tailored for fleet and field service operations. Their flagship product is an AI dispatcher created for trucking carriers, automating tasks such as searching load boards, broker communication, booking loads, and managing paperwork. This allows carriers to dedicate less time to calls and emails. The company serves both pilot and enterprise clients within the United States and operates as a nimble, fast-moving team.
Role Overview
The Product Manager will be responsible for managing customer requests, converting them into well-defined requirements, and delivering scalable features for our pilot and enterprise clients. This role requires overseeing multiple pilots simultaneously, handling the entire process from initial request to release of finalized features.
Primary Responsibilities
- Respond to every customer request within two working days, deciding whether to fully build, partially build, or postpone, providing explanations and generalized concepts.
- Create detailed, clear requirements for engineers to develop, including behavioral states, access permissions, and notification protocols.
- Develop prototypes yourself using AI tools like Claude, coding, or Paper before handing over to engineering, and validate them with customers or internal teams.
- Maintain an organized list of requests per pilot, categorizing and prioritizing them to transparently communicate progress for each customer sprint.
- Verify that released features match requirements by reviewing builds on staging environments before final approval.
- Politely reject one-off requests that are not scalable, favoring solutions that benefit all carriers.
Decision-Making Process
The Product Manager has autonomy over scope within existing patterns, prioritizing pilot requests, and responding to overlapping asks. For larger change initiatives, they present a single recommended solution with justifications. Major decisions regarding new patterns, permissions, pricing, and commitments remain with product leadership, with all policies clearly documented and provided from day one.
Candidate Profile
Must have:
- A minimum of three years' experience as a product manager or product owner in B2B workflow, logistics, supply chain software, or an operations-intensive SaaS environment.
- Proven ability to write requirements that engineers implement accurately without significant rework, with at least one example to demonstrate.
- Experienced user of AI assistants for prototyping, analysis, or drafting, able to discuss usage and limitations.
- Experience in diplomatically declining customer requests and defending those decisions.
- Clear written English communication skills, with availability aligning partially with U.S. business hours for customer interactions.
Preferred qualifications:
- Background in freight, dispatch, transportation management systems (TMS), or brokerage domains.
- Hands-on prototyping skills, beyond specification writing.
- Experience managing pilots or enterprise customer implementations.
- Exposure to working with customers in the United States.
Not required:
- High-level visual design skills, as the team uses a shared design system focusing on clean, functional interfaces.
- Deep engineering expertise beyond API usage and data reading.
- People management experience.
Work Environment and Practices
- Collaborate with a small product and engineering team based in Pune's office.
- Use AI tools like Claude and Paper for design and prototyping directly with the live product, avoiding handoffs of drawings.
- Prioritize a clean and functional design approach within the app, with the highest polish reserved for customer-facing and marketing materials.
- Maintain written documentation of decisions to reduce repeated queries.
