About the Role

Henkel Ireland in Tallaght, Dublin 24, is seeking a full-time Product Development Chemist to join their Product Development team. This dynamic position focuses on advancing LOCTITE adhesive technologies including anaerobics, cyanoacrylates, and acrylates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive creation of innovative products and technologies to support Machinery and Instant Adhesives growth.
  • Design and execute laboratory tests involving formulation, raw material assessment, product evaluation, and adhesive performance analysis.
  • Utilize synthetic chemistry expertise to develop new materials and enhance adhesive technologies.
  • Lead development projects ensuring delivery quality and timeliness adhering to required processes.
  • Interpret collected experimental data, derive scientific conclusions, and suggest subsequent steps.
  • Protect intellectual property via patents, publications, and new technological know-how.
  • Document experimental procedures, progress, and results accurately within company systems.
  • Effectively communicate technical results and proposals to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally at global scale with Sales, Technical Service, and Manufacturing teams to meet customer and business goals.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Holds Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or related field.
  • Demonstrates strong creativity, innovative thinking, and problem-solving skills to convert ideas into practical applications.
  • Proficient laboratory experience with hands-on technical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical matters to diverse audiences.
  • Active collaborator who also works independently and takes initiative as needed.
  • Confident with digital tools and technology that support scientific work and communication.
  • Open to travel as job requirements may dictate.

Additional Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity or practical expertise in (meth)acrylate and cyanoacrylate chemistries.
  • Expertise in synthetic chemistry, such as methacrylate-based oligomer synthesis.
  • Record of creating intellectual property including patents, invention records, or publications.
