Job description
Overview
This role involves leading the design of comprehensive experiences for intelligent and connected consumer technology products. As a Design Manager focused on Experience, you will oversee the end-to-end interaction a user has with the product — from physical hardware through digital apps and onboarding processes—ensuring a seamless, premium, and intuitive ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and oversee experience across digital applications and connected product ecosystems, addressing typical use cases, edge conditions, and error states.
- Collaborate with Digital Design and software teams to convert experience visions into clear, prioritized deliverables.
- Shape user interaction with the physical product including controls, sensors, displays, audio, haptic feedback, and connectivity behavior.
- Work closely with Product Design, Engineering, and HMI teams to simplify complex technologies into user-friendly products.
- Lead the entire onboarding journey, from unboxing and packaging to activation, setup, and initial use, creating clear, reassuring guidance where needed.
- Define the vision and principles for Human-Machine Interface and on-product interaction, ensuring cohesion between physical and digital elements.
- Stay informed on new technologies, robotics, and user interaction models to influence both current product strategies and future roadmaps.
- Act as the voice of experience design within the product category and connect cross-disciplinary teams in alignment with user needs and business goals.
- Balance user benefits, technical feasibility, costs, schedules, and product aspirations to achieve a successful integrated experience.
Candidate Profile
- Extensive leadership experience in end-to-end experience or product design, especially in digital products or connected intelligent hardware.
- A compelling portfolio showcasing premium consumer technology and complex physical-digital ecosystems.
- Well-versed in designing experiences that span multiple touchpoints rather than isolated features.
- Strong grasp of digital UX and product design, with fluency working alongside engineering and software teams.
- Experience with physical product interfaces, Human-Machine Interaction, or connected devices is essential.
- Experience in robotics or autonomous intelligent product design is highly desirable.
- Adept at simplifying technical complexity into intuitive user experiences.
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire multidisciplinary design teams.
- Skilled at transitioning between grand vision, strategic planning, and detailed execution.
- A passionate interest in emerging technologies and trends shaping product experiences.
