Overview

Working as a Produce Stocker at a major Canadian retailer offers a valuable opportunity to develop skills in a fast-moving retail environment.   • Maintain the produce department clean, orderly, and neatly divided to be customer-ready at all times.
  • Regularly rotate stock and remove expired items to uphold freshness and quality.
  • Ensure pricing and signage are precise, following guidelines for ordering, clearances, markups, markdowns, labels, and signs.
  • Adhere strictly to food safety, sanitation, and cold chain protocols, including temperature monitoring, thermometer usage, proper food handling, and correct sell-by and expiration date compliance.
  • Stock and downstock goods as required, apply product protection when necessary, and arrange modular displays to keep shelves well stocked.
  • Observe all workplace health and safety policies to maintain a secure and clean environment.
  • Be flexible to work various shifts such as evenings, weekends, and holidays to support smooth store operations and high-quality customer service.

Challenges in the Role

  • Manage a high volume of tasks effectively in a fast-paced setting, particularly overnight shifts, by planning to stay energized and focused.
  • Handle fast workloads efficiently, completing large-scale restocking and recovery accurately and on schedule.
  • Meet physical demands including standing for long durations, bending, and lifting inventory or supplies up to 20 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Perform repetitive actions such as stocking, zoning, and organizing with consistent attention to detail to uphold store standards.

Compensation

The starting wage for this role is $18.05 per hour.
