Job description

Role Overview

The Private Credit Associate will be based in New York, NY and play a pivotal role in evaluating and executing investment opportunities in private credit markets. This role involves thorough analysis of sponsor-backed leveraged buyouts, refinancings, recapitalizations, growth financings, and other opportunistic credit scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of investment opportunities including leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, refinancings, and growth financings.
  • Develop and update comprehensive three-statement operating models, debt sizing and LBO models, and downside case scenarios.
  • Perform detailed credit underwriting encompassing business and industry evaluations, historical financial analysis, cash flow forecasting, capital structure assessments, recovery and covenant analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with management teams, private equity sponsors, lenders, consultants, and legal advisors throughout due diligence processes.
  • Compile and present investment committee memoranda and advise senior investment professionals on recommendations.
  • Participate in negotiating loan agreements, covenants, pricing, and terms with borrowers and outside counsel.
  • Oversee transaction execution by coordinating with investment banks, sponsors, lawyers, and other relevant financing parties.
  • Manage ongoing portfolio monitoring activities including reviewing financial performance metrics, compliance certificates, amendments, and refinancing prospects.
  • Assist with portfolio valuation processes and prepare quarterly reports.
  • Provide mentorship to analysts and actively engage in knowledge sharing within the team.

Qualifications

  • 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in investment banking, leveraged finance, restructuring, private credit, or direct lending roles.
  • Advanced skills in financial modeling and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in analyzing complex leveraged capital structures and credit documentation.
  • Capability to distill extensive data into clear and concise investment recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree with notable academic achievements.

Preferred Background

  • Experience with Leveraged Finance, Financial Sponsors Coverage, Mergers & Acquisitions, Restructuring, Direct Lending, Private Debt, and Credit Research.
