About the Role

Meta invites an experienced Principal Software Engineer to join the XF APAC Products team, focused on AI-driven commercialization, app experimentation, and AI for businesses. This pivotal role involves redefining product development workflows for enhanced speed and efficiency across Meta’s broad product range.

Key Responsibilities

• Shape and guide a multi-year technical strategy and architecture for vital product platforms, ensuring designs are scalable, reliable, and adaptable across global infrastructure.
• Lead transformative engineering projects that significantly elevate product quality, system efficiency, or developer productivity across the organization.
• Establish foundational technical standards and coding practices to ensure consistency across different engineering teams and product lines.
• Drive the adoption of AI-native engineering workflows that enhance cross-disciplinary team collaboration and enable rapid iteration.
• Tackle complex systemic technical challenges spanning various systems and abstraction layers, crafting generalized solutions to mitigate entire classes of issues.
• Work collaboratively with product managers, designers, data scientists, and operations teams to set strategic priorities, balance technical trade-offs, and steer project execution.
• Mentor engineers by offering clear technical direction, personalized coaching, and frameworks to navigate ambiguous and high-impact engineering decisions.
• Define new metrics and principles for data-driven decision-making connected to organizational priorities over long-term, cross-team initiatives.
• Influence adjacent engineering areas through rigorous design reviews, ensuring coherent architecture and data integration.
• Lead engineering programs and process enhancements that uphold high standards for reliability, privacy, security, and product excellence within the wider engineering community.

Required Qualifications

• Over 12 years of experience in software engineering focusing on large-scale product systems, architecture design, system reliability, and cross-organizational technical leadership.
• Proven ability to craft and deliver multi-year technical roadmaps that achieve a balance between immediate execution and long-term architectural soundness across multiple teams.
• Demonstrated skill in diagnosing and resolving systemic problems affecting multiple systems, including creating invariants and approaches that prevent entire categories of issues.
• Experience driving technical strategy and priorities by influencing various engineering organizations and cross-functional stakeholders via proposals, design reviews, and alignment initiatives.
• Proficiency in leveraging AI tools and workflows to boost engineering productivity, broaden technical capabilities, and bring significant improvements in system design or product outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience steering large-scale system migrations or platform upgrades in complex, mature environments involving multiple teams.
• Continuous development of AI expertise including prompt/context engineering and agent orchestration, with an understanding of emerging AI technologies.
• Track record of impactful contributions within a technical domain, extending influence beyond a single organization.
• Experience applying responsible and ethical AI practices such as risk evaluation, bias mitigation, and quality assurance.
• Evidence of integrating AI tools to revamp workflows with measurable gains in efficiency and quality.
• History of defining engineering standards, architectural patterns, or frameworks widely adopted in large engineering groups.
• Experience establishing and operationalizing ecosystem-level reliability, privacy, and security practices, collaborating with legal, policy, and compliance stakeholders.
