Principal Security Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled Principal Security Engineer to serve as a technical leader for comprehensive enterprise cybersecurity engineering efforts within a major banking institution. This position entails defining security architecture criteria, leading the deployment of sophisticated security measures, and ensuring that vital technology platforms comply with organizational security protocols, risk frameworks, and legislative standards.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead technical direction for cybersecurity engineering and security architecture projects.
• Create and implement enterprise-wide security frameworks tailored for critical banking systems and software.
• Supervise the installation of advanced security controls in on-premise, cloud-based, and hybrid setups.
• Establish security design principles, standards, and patterns for development teams.
• Advise security engineering teams on best practices for risk mitigation and resolution of security issues.
• Promote security-first methodologies throughout the technology development lifecycle.
• Manage and improve security controls over identity and access management, encryption, data protection, threat detection, and system monitoring.
• Conduct security architecture evaluations, threat modeling, and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to enhance overall security resilience.
• Support vulnerability management and remediation processes.
• Ensure compliance with company-wide security policies, regulatory requirements, and risk standards in project execution.
• Participate in security governance, auditing, compliance, and assurance activities.
• Mentor and support the growth of security engineering staff across the organization.
• Assess new technologies and suggest innovative security solutions.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, security architecture, or information security roles.
• Demonstrated success in designing and deploying security architectures at an enterprise scale.
• Expertise in security architecture, cloud security, identity and access management, network and data security, and threat detection and response.
• Experience in implementing security controls across cloud and hybrid platforms.
• Thorough understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and risk management techniques.
• Skill in conducting threat analysis and security assessments.
• Proven experience in leadership roles within security engineering teams.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Background in financial services or banking preferred.

Certifications

• Mandatory: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
• Preferred: Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP)

• Experience designing security solutions for digital banking platforms.
• Strong knowledge of secure cloud adoption strategies.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps and contemporary software security measures.
