About The Team

The Principal, Information Security leads strategic initiatives across Zillow's security landscape, shaping the enterprise's security frameworks, creating and executing sophisticated security controls, and collaborating with senior technology and business leaders to balance risk reduction with fostering innovation. Acting as an expert on challenging and unclear security issues, this role coordinates cross-team efforts to safeguard Zillow’s platforms, data, and customers.

About The Role

• Set and guide Zillow’s security strategy and roadmap covering products, platforms, and infrastructure, coordinating closely with senior engineering and business leaders.
• Lead the architecture design and deployment of enterprise-level security controls, including identity and access management, network and application security, data protection, and cloud security.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage complex security threats through directing threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and incident response across teams.
• Advocate and influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional collaborators to integrate security principles throughout product development lifecycles, engineering best practices, and operational procedures.
• Provide mentorship and training to security and engineering teams, promoting security expertise, sharing best practices, and nurturing a culture focused on continuous security improvement.
• Assess and adopt emerging security technologies and industry standards, balancing security needs with usability and rapid delivery considerations.

This position requires working at the Zillow India office between 80% and 100% of the time. Employees should reside within a reasonable commuting distance, exercising personal judgment regarding commute time and expenses.

Compensation includes a competitive salary plus eligibility for incentive programs, with amounts depending on experience, performance, and location.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in information security, cybersecurity engineering, or a related technical security role.
• Proven leadership of enterprise-wide security projects or initiatives with influence over senior technical and business leaders.
• Demonstrated expertise designing and deploying security architectures and controls for large-scale, cloud-based or distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with incident response, threat modeling, and vulnerability management within complex environments.
• Experience mentoring security and engineering professionals, driving collaborative security enhancements.
