Overview
The Principal Researcher role involves shaping strategic research directions and leading pioneering advancements in artificial intelligence. This position requires guiding the organization’s research priorities, managing multiple projects, and advocating the team in key external collaborations. The role emphasizes leadership, mentorship of senior research staff, and influencing policies to maximize both corporate and scientific community impact.
Research Focus Areas
- Applying AI to semiconductor design and optimization
- Fundamental research underpinning AI applications and contributing to scientific progress
- Key domains include large language models, deep learning optimization, reinforcement learning, and generative models
Key Responsibilities
- Define and communicate the strategic research vision within the company
- Lead oversight of multiple impactful AI research projects ensuring alignment with company goals
- Spearhead innovative machine learning and AI breakthroughs
- Provide leadership and mentorship to senior researchers and teams
- Act as representative in high-level external partnerships, collaborations, and policy discussions
- Drive organizational research priorities and participate in policy formulation
- Cultivate and sustain relationships with academia, industry, and funding bodies
- Publish and present research outcomes at premier conferences, journals, and forums
- Remain at the cutting edge of AI developments and identify emerging opportunities
Required Qualifications and Skills
- PhD in Machine Learning, AI, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or related field, or equivalent research experience
- Distinguished record of publications in leading venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL
- Proven experience in developing research strategy and managing multiple projects
- History of delivering impactful research and influencing priorities
- Proficient in programming languages like Python, C++, or equivalents
- Strong leadership, mentorship, and communication capabilities
- Experienced in representing research teams externally, including policy forums
Preferred Expertise
- Deep knowledge in optimization, reinforcement learning, and large language models
- Background in semiconductor chip design and applied AI research
- Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or JAX
- Experience shaping organizational policy and securing significant research funding
