Job description
Role Overview
This position is designed to tackle the most challenging hiring assignments that typically remain unresolved due to unique requirements such as highly specialized skills needed in niche locations, complex compensation structures, or remote work constraints. You will handle these difficult searches independently, facing small talent pools and reconciling conflicting executive demands while firmly advocating a skills-first hiring philosophy supported by thorough documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Close difficult talent searches involving scarce candidates, unusual processes, and previously unsuccessful efforts.
- Facilitate alignment among executive stakeholders with divergent hiring criteria and restore confidence in the recruitment process.
- Identify and resolve systemic failures affecting hiring outcomes, including assessment tools, AI-based candidate grading, and job ad targeting.
- Develop rapid, tailored technical solutions using AI tools and custom tools such as Claude Code and Model Context Protocol Servers, collaborating with engineers for production deployment.
- Deliver actionable insights including pipeline evaluations, market compensation analyses, and candidate availability metrics promptly for executive decisions.
- Manage incomplete or ambiguous requests by deducing missing information and maintaining accountability for open tasks until resolved.
Responsibilities Not Included
- Initial resume screening or first-round interviews.
- Waiting passively for status requests from stakeholders.
- Managing teams, conducting performance reviews, or controlling recruitment headcount.
- Repetitive workaround creation for recurrent recruitment issues.
- Permitting hiring requests that pose compliance or risk concerns without challenge.
- Operating under detailed supervision or rigid instructions.
Experience and Qualifications
- At least eight years of professional experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, or executive search, primarily focused on difficult-to-fill or executive-level roles.
- Proven track record managing entire end-to-end recruitment cycles for such challenging searches regularly.
- Experience closing assignments that others have failed, creating novel recruitment strategies rather than following established playbooks.
- Direct involvement and accountability with executive decision-makers, with the ability to defend recruitment positions with supporting documentation.
- Experience in creating or refining hiring assessments using outcome-based data analysis.
- Proficient daily use of AI-based recruitment tools, having developed or customized AI-enabled solutions within the past three months.
- Hands-on experience delivering compensation benchmarking and market-sizing reports oriented towards executive leadership.
- Personal responsibility for compliance monitoring concerning US hiring regulations including pay equity, classification, and transparency requirements.
- Produced formalized documents utilized by others such as standard operating procedures or post-mortem analyses.
- Availability to work at least six overlapping hours per weekday during US business hours.
Preferred Attributes
- Iterative improvement of talent acquisition systems based on performance or retention data across multiple cycles.
- Background in talent acquisition or executive search within private equity, venture-backed companies, or multi-business holding environments.
- Recognized as a go-to expert within recruitment teams for resolving challenging search assignments.
