Role Overview

As a Principal Product Manager, you will join an existing product team focused on both consumer and lawyer sides of the marketplace. Your responsibilities will focus on the marketplace as a whole, addressing cross-cutting challenges that exist between consumers and lawyers. This includes analyzing reasons why legal jobs remain unclaimed, improving post-job posting processes, optimizing pricing strategies, and ensuring appropriate lawyer availability. You will independently manage initiatives from conception through design, development, deployment, and measurement.

Key Responsibilities

• Chart the complete user journey for consumers seeking legal help and lawyers offering their services, identifying friction points and opportunities.
• Evaluate and quantify opportunities based on data insights, customer feedback, and hypotheses, including cost assessment for validating these opportunities.
• Collaborate with other Product Managers and leadership to prioritize a marketplace-wide roadmap based on impact rationale.
• Create clear and actionable product briefs comprising problem statements, success criteria, and detailed specifications for design and engineering teams.
• Oversee product development cycles to ensure timely and effective delivery.
• Communicate directly with users — both consumers and lawyers — through interviews and observation to incorporate real-world behaviors into planning.
• Design and analyze experiments rigorously to confirm outcomes and integrate findings into future prioritizations.
• Share knowledge with team members regarding opportunity evaluation, specification writing, and experimentation, while acquiring insights from colleagues regarding user perspectives.
• Maintain close collaboration with cross-functional teams including PMs, engineering, design, legal/content specialists, sales, and growth, ensuring transparent communication about progress and challenges.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior, Lead, or Principal Product Manager, preferably with consumer-facing products or two-sided marketplaces.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage a product area from problem identification through delivery and impact validation.
• Experience in building and justifying a prioritized product roadmap backed by measurable impact models.
• Successful track record working collaboratively with engineering teams, including writing detailed specifications and respecting technical constraints.
• Direct user engagement experience, including interviews and usability testing.
• Ability to work effectively alongside other PMs managing shared product domains.
• Proficient in SQL and business intelligence tools, capable of independently performing data-driven estimates.
• Comfortable incorporating AI features into products and employing AI tools in daily work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience specifically in two-sided marketplaces, including handling supply constraints, liquidity, and effective demand management.
• Expertise in product monetization and pricing models, such as credit or subscription-based strategies.
• Familiarity with consumer products involving complex, infrequent, emotionally significant decisions such as legal, health, finance, or insurance sectors.
• Experience launching products utilizing large language models (LLMs).
• Background in early-stage or scale-up environments accustomed to working with imperfect datasets and developing infrastructures.
