Job description
About LawConnect
LawConnect addresses the significant issue that 74% of individuals who need legal assistance never receive it. The company is innovating how consumers access legal support by combining artificial intelligence with a leading marketplace of lawyers. Supported by one of the largest global legal software firms, LawConnect offers the stability and resources of an established business alongside the agility and energy of a well-funded startup. The environment fosters innovation, rapid experimentation, and growth with a small, passionate team acting with global ambitions.
Role Overview
As Principal Product Designer, you will collaborate closely with Product Managers and cross-functional teams to create exceptional user experiences for LawConnect's legal products. Your work will involve transforming ambiguous problems and business goals into clear, testable design solutions that map real user journeys in legal scenarios. Using our existing design system, you will wireframe, prototype, and validate designs to accelerate delivery of impactful features.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and map the full user journey from initial legal confusion to the point of connecting with suitable legal help, identifying pain points, gaps, and opportunities along the way.
- Partner with Product Managers to clarify product briefs and set priorities, asking insightful questions whenever problems, user needs, or success criteria are unclear.
- Rapidly develop user flows, wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes from complex, ambiguous product challenges, providing multiple design options to facilitate team discussion and iteration.
- Lead or assist in conducting user interviews, usability testing, and feedback sessions to validate or discard design concepts.
- Advocate a user-first perspective in product meetings, clearly articulating design decisions, assumptions, trade-offs, and rationale.
- Create designs for web, desktop, and mobile platforms, including integrations with AI-powered tools like Claude.
- Help define best practices for integrating AI technologies into the design process and workflow.
- Communicate progress, risks, and next steps proactively with Product Managers, engineers, legal/content experts, and other stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
- Experienced Senior, Lead, or Principal Product Designer with a background in both B2B and B2C product design.
- Proven track record of solving real-world user problems effectively.
- Strong collaboration skills working alongside Product Managers, taking briefs and driving them forward while asking the right questions early.
- Expertise in user research, comfortable running interviews, usability tests, and interpreting user feedback.
- Proficient in current design tools and techniques; equally adept in workshops and whiteboarding sessions.
- A portfolio demonstrating comprehensive customer journey mapping and problem solving, beyond final visual designs.
Work Style and Attributes
- Curious about the "why" before the "how" in problem solving.
- Desires influence over product decisions, not just visual execution.
- Committed to shipping only designs validated by real user testing.
- Enthusiastic and adaptive to the fast-changing landscape of AI-driven software.
Additional Information
LawConnect fosters an inclusive and people-first workplace aimed at dismantling institutional barriers that limit potential. Candidates who meet some but not all qualifications are encouraged to apply.
