Principal Mechanical Design Engineer - Data Centers

Overview

We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in data center projects to join a prominent Mission Critical Design consultancy based in Abu Dhabi. The role will primarily focus on overseeing mechanical engineering design efforts for data center developments, including a significant 200MW data center expansion planned over the next two years for a major operator. This position offers an exciting chance to lead the mechanical design for a high-profile AI Hyperscale data center expansion.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation, coordination, and execution of mechanical engineering designs tailored to data center projects.
• Ensure designs meet the highest standards for resilience, energy efficiency, scalability, and operational reliability.
• Manage and provide leadership to an established team of mechanical design engineers.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to manage expectations and ensure project delivery across multiple design initiatives.

Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in mechanical design engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of direct involvement in data center design projects.
• At least 5 years of experience working in design consulting.
• Strong skills in client and stakeholder relationship management.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Certification as a Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) is preferred but not mandatory.
