Role Overview

We seek a Principal Machine Learning Engineer for our Delivery team who acts both as a technical expert and leader. The ideal candidate will have a knack for resolving complex problems and managing technical projects focused on integrating advanced AI models into practical tools that are actively utilized by our clients. This role demands hands-on experience shipping large-scale ML systems end-to-end and a strong background in working with 3D geometrical data like point-clouds and meshes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead deployment of machine learning models and engineering surrogates, including deep learning for CAE/CFD/FEA data, as well as time-series forecasting, anomaly detection, optimization, and control in client production environments.
• Effectively communicate outcomes and trade-offs to senior management to guide the roadmap and product strategy with clear evidence.
• Design and scope data and ML system architectures, defining delivery plans, success criteria, and quality standards.
• Build scalable, reliable ML systems, training/inference pipelines, and APIs suitable for cloud and on-premises setups, using tools such as Python, PyTorch, Pandas, FastAPI, SciPy, and Kubeflow.
• Mentor and guide engineers and data scientists, providing decisive leadership especially under pressure.
• Engage in significant travel to customer locations worldwide (North America, Europe, Asia, Oceania) for roughly 3-4 weeks each quarter to collaborate closely onsite.
• Lead project scoping for existing customers and contribute to securing new business opportunities for PhysicsX.

Candidate Profile

Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years of industry experience beyond a Master's or PhD degree in a commercial, applied setting. Beyond execution, the role requires leadership ability to mentor teammates and manage complex deliverables while driving continuous system improvements to meet client needs.
