About the Role

To support these developments, Jacobs is seeking a Principal Substation Engineer with expertise in Primary, Secondary, or Protection Engineering to lead major substation projects, tackle complex engineering problems, and contribute to the growth of our Asia-Pacific Transmission & Distribution operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and evaluate medium to high voltage substation designs ranging from 22kV to 220kV.
- Provide technical leadership throughout all stages from concept to detailed design and design validation.
- Serve as a trusted consultant for utilities, developers, and infrastructure clients.
- Assist in major bids, client pursuits, and strategic engagement initiatives.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of technical excellence.
- Shape project outcomes, standards, and best practices within the wider team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) registration or eligibility to obtain this certification.
- Significant experience managing HV substation projects.
- Proficiency in Primary, Secondary, or Protection Engineering disciplines.
- Comprehensive knowledge of New Zealand utility standards and regulatory requirements.
- Strong technical judgment complemented by client-facing experience.
- Collaborative mindset with a passion for mentoring and developing others.
