About the Role

We are looking for an innovative Principal Data Center Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design architecture for our next-generation global data centers. This vital position requires researching state-of-the-art cooling technologies and developing practical, scalable designs balancing complexity, budget, and timelines. You will establish and maintain design standards, templates, and best practices used by our engineering teams and contractors globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and standardize mechanical architecture for EdgeConneX data centers ensuring efficiency, scalability, and sustainability.
  • Continuously investigate industry trends and emerging cooling and energy efficiency technologies.
  • Create and regularly update design guidelines and templates for internal teams and external EPC partners.
  • Collaborate effectively with project engineers and EPC partners to align on implementation strategies.
  • Provide flexible mechanical solutions addressing diverse client demands while adhering to company standards.
  • Engage stakeholders, communicate ideas clearly, formulate actionable plans, and facilitate consensus-building.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least 10 years of experience in mechanical design specifically for large-scale data centers.
  • Minimum 5 years of involvement in international projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, advanced cooling technologies, and energy-saving strategies.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with a capacity for managing complex technical challenges offering multiple solutions.
  • Proven ability to drive consensus among varied stakeholders.

Preferred Experience and Attributes

  • Knowledge of global compliance standards pertaining to data centers.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors and managing extensive hardware deployments.
  • Demonstrated commitment to innovation and continuous enhancement in data center mechanical design.
