Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Principal Backend Software Engineer to join our Transaction Tribe, which focuses on products aimed at acquiring, retaining, and growing our customer base. This role involves leading the design and development of backend systems with a strong emphasis on scalability, reliability, and extensibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead backend architecture and strategy development aligned with the Transaction Tribe’s long-term vision.
• Design and implement scalable, reusable backend services, APIs, and shared modules for multiple products, establishing best practices for maintainability and efficiency.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, UX, and frontend teams to ensure backend capabilities meet both current and future product demands supporting growth initiatives.
• Oversee system performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization to achieve high availability, low latency, and effective resource use; troubleshoot issues across databases, caching, message queues, and other backend components.
• Embed security and compliance into backend systems, adhering to best practices and regulatory requirements to protect customer and company data.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to backend engineers, fostering collaboration, innovation, and professional growth within the team.
• Keep abreast of backend technology advancements, cloud platforms, and system design patterns, driving innovation to enhance scalability, reliability, and growth metrics.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualifications/experience.
• Over 10 years of backend engineering experience with focus on scalable, complex distributed systems and service-oriented architectures; organizational-level engineering strategy experience.
• Expertise in backend programming, preferably with Go, complemented by strong skills in system design, APIs, and microservices.
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage high-performance backend systems including databases, caching solutions, message queuing, and event-driven architectures.
• Proven skills in creating modular, reusable backend architectures for large-scale systems.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment processes.
• Strong leadership abilities, guiding engineering teams with best practices and promoting cross-functional collaboration.
• Track record of aligning engineering initiatives with overall business goals, balancing speed, quality, and impact.
• Proficient in performance tuning, debugging, and optimizing large-scale distributed systems, including concurrency and reliability engineering.
• A passion for innovation and building customer-focused backend solutions that enable user acquisition, retention, and engagement.
