Job Purpose

The Preservation Incharge will oversee all preservation activities regarding materials, equipment, fabricated modules, and components stored or handled at the modular manufacturing yard in MMY Dahej, Gujarat. The role ensures protection against corrosion, contamination, mechanical damage, and environmental impacts in accordance with project specifications and company procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement preservation strategies for incoming materials, structures, equipment, instruments, and modules.
  • Identify preservation needs based on project specs, vendor manuals, and client standards.
  • Create preservation schedules, checklists, work plans, and inspection routines for stored assets.
  • Coordinate preservation for short- and long-term storage and pre-dispatch conditions.
  • Execute preservation activities timely following approved procedures.
  • Supervise preservation of rotating/static equipment, panels, instruments, piping, valves, and packaged items, ensuring protective measures like anti-rust coatings, greasing, desiccants, nitrogen blanketing, sealing, wrapping, and periodic maintenance.
  • Tag, identify, and record all preserved items properly.
  • Conduct regular inspections for corrosion, damage, moisture intrusion, or contamination, and monitor storage environment factors.
  • Promptly address preservation deficiencies and keep inspection logs and checklists updated.
  • Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, fabrication, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, logistics teams, vendors, subcontractors, and inspectors to meet preservation standards.
  • Support safe transport, packing, unpacking, and dispatch without damage.
  • Collaborate with HSE and quality control teams to ensure safety and compliance during preservation activities and audits.
  • Maintain detailed preservation documentation, including registers, reports, log sheets, and certification records to ensure traceability and readiness for audits.
  • Promote safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and preservation materials, ensuring PPE usage and reporting unsafe conditions promptly.

  • Zero damage or deterioration due to preservation lapses.
  • Adherence to preservation schedules and inspection routines.
  • Accurate and complete preservation documentation.
  • Timely resolution of non-conformances.
  • Reduced corrosion and rework during storage and dispatch.
  • Ready preservation status before installation or dispatch.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Materials Engineering or allied fields preferred.
  • Certifications in preservation, corrosion control, QA/QC, or warehouse management are advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of industrial storage and preservation standards.
  • 10 to 15 years' experience in preservation, warehouse management, material handling, QA/QC, or modular fabrication yards.
  • Expertise in preserving mechanical, structural, electrical/instrument equipment, and modules.
  • Experience in industries like oil & gas, petrochemical, power, construction, or modular fabrication preferred.

Skills and Competencies

  • Thorough knowledge of preservation methods and storage best practices.
  • Expertise in corrosion prevention, humidity control, packaging, and equipment care.
  • Ability to interpret vendor manuals, project specifications, and preservation procedures.
  • Strong inspection, documentation, and reporting skills.
  • Effective coordination and communication abilities.
  • Attention to detail and multitasking capability.
  • Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and inventory/preservation tracking software.
