Role Overview

The Prescription Engineer is a full-time position based on-site in Doha, Qatar. The primary responsibility is to specify and recommend Selex electrical products suited to various projects, ensuring alignment with technical specs, regulations, and client needs. Daily activities include examining project drawings and related documents, choosing suitable electrical components, preparing technical proposals and bills of quantities, and aiding consultants, contractors, and sales teams with product advice. This role requires active collaboration with engineering, sales, and marketing departments to ensure conformity with Selex's standards and certification prerequisites while delivering technical support during project implementation and post-sales stages. The position also demands staying current with industry codes, local regulations, and latest product developments to maintain accurate and competitive prescriptions.

Responsibilities

• Analyze project drawings and documentation to identify product requirements.
• Select appropriate electrical products that satisfy technical and regulatory standards.
• Develop comprehensive technical proposals and detailed bills of quantities.
• Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and sales teams to provide product advice.
• Coordinate with engineering, sales, and marketing teams to align product specifications with company standards and certifications.
• Offer technical guidance throughout project execution and subsequent customer support phases.
• Keep updated with relevant industry codes, local regulations, and new product developments.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, covering design and installation standards for residential and commercial projects.
• Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and building codes; ability to translate these into accurate product requirements and quantity estimations.
• Familiarity with international and regional certifications such as IEC, IECEE CB, CE, GS, ROHS, and Esma, ensuring compliance in prescribed solutions.
• Capable of working closely with sales, marketing, and project teams to assist with product selection and technical presentations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail in technical documentation.
• Fluent in written and spoken English; proficiency in Arabic, Hindi, or Malayalam is advantageous.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related area; professional certifications are a plus.
• Previous experience in electrical product specification, consulting engineering, or project-focused roles within the electrical sector is preferred.
• Willingness to work on-site in Doha, Qatar, including visits to customer locations and project sites for coordination.
