Overview

This role involves washing dishes and maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen area. The position requires upholding a positive company image by consistently delivering courteous, friendly, and effective service to both customers and team members. Every task must align with team and store Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Additionally, employees must be flexible to assist in duties associated with other team roles, embody the core values of Whole Foods Market, and comply with all relevant health, safety, and food regulatory standards.

Job Responsibilities

• Wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and small equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness of floors, mats, drains, walls, and shelves within the kitchen environment.
• Support kitchen deliveries by organizing, storing, and rotating products appropriately.
• Arrive punctually, dressed properly, prepared for work, and complete scheduled shifts; participate in mandatory trainings and meetings.
• Provide excellent customer service, promptly address customer needs, employ suggestive selling techniques, and respond courteously to phone calls and pages.
• Maximize sales potential by adhering to correct procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising items.
• Adhere to established procedures related to weight and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work and shopping environment; handle equipment maintenance following company cleanliness and safety standards.
• Conduct opening, mid-day, and closing tasks as assigned; ensure signage and pricing are accurate.
• Immediately report safety concerns or violations.
• Perform additional duties assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.

Experience

No prior experience in retail is necessary for this role.

Physical and Working Conditions

• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Standing or walking for 6 to 8 hours in an 8-hour shift.
• Use of hands for grasping, fine manipulations, pushing, and pulling.
• Engagement in body movements including bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
• Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
• Working in varying temperature environments from freezing conditions (<32°F), refrigerated areas (32-40°F), to warm temperatures above 90°F.
• Ability to work in both wet and dry settings.
• Flexibility to work during nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
• Use of tools and heavy equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and potentially ladders.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly wage range for this position is $18.50 to $25.40, dependent on experience. Whole Foods Market offers comprehensive benefits known as "Whole Benefits" available to full and part-time employees, which include store discounts, paid time off, health and wellness support, financial wellness programs, and other perks. Eligibility and benefits may vary by location, length of service, and job type.

New employees who successfully complete their initial 90 days and continue in an eligible role may be considered for a base wage increase following their anniversary.
