PPA Origination Lead

About the Role

Are you an experienced professional specializing in Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) origination, particularly within Southeast Asia's dynamic renewable energy sector? This position is with a leading company backed by a respected Asset Management firm, dedicated to developing, financing, owning, and operating an extensive range of onshore renewable energy and storage assets across the Asia Pacific region. The expansion in Southeast Asia has created an opportunity for a PPA Origination Lead to spearhead commercial origination and development efforts, supporting current assets and advancing greenfield projects and merger & acquisition initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive high-priority business development activities targeting hyperscale data centers, AI data center developers, cloud service providers, telecommunication companies, industrial clients, and multinational corporations committed to sustainability goals.
• Continuously analyze market demand and map opportunities within Southeast Asia's rapidly expanding data center and digital infrastructure sectors.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with decision-makers in the data center and digital infrastructure market segments.
• Develop customized renewable energy solutions aligned with client needs, including pricing strategies and commercial structuring.
• Assess contract frameworks for bankability, cost-effectiveness, revenue potential, and portfolio optimization.
• Lead negotiations for Letters of Intent, Term Sheets, and PPAs, managing commercial activities through to financial closure.
• Collaborate with internal teams—Project Development, Legal, Technical, Finance—to facilitate approval processes.
• Work closely with investors, lenders, advisors, and counterparties on revenue contract-related matters.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Law, or Engineering.
• Demonstrate deep expertise and sound understanding of corporate renewable PPAs, origination, off-take mechanisms, and market access strategies.
• Have thorough knowledge of power purchasing and selling dynamics for data centers and other large digital infrastructure in Southeast Asia, including experience dealing with utility-scale projects.
• Maintain a robust network across Southeast Asia encompassing power, data center, and significant digital infrastructure sectors.
• Proven track record in leading PPA negotiations involving Commercial & Industrial organizations, Utilities, and Independent Power Producers.
• Strong commercial acumen and capability in financial modeling.
