Job description
Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer specializing in Technical Office functions and Cost Estimation, ideally with a background in Power Generation, Industrial, and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects. This role centers on thorough evaluation of tenders, preparing detailed cost estimates, and collaborating with suppliers and subcontractors to develop comprehensive technical and commercial proposals.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze tender documents, technical specifications, drawings, and defined Scope of Work (SOW) thoroughly.
- Develop Bills of Quantities (BOQs), perform quantity take-offs, and prepare precise cost estimations.
- Generate Request For Quotations (RFQs) and assess suppliers' and subcontractors' technical and financial proposals.
- Detect and address scope gaps, exclusions, risks, and technical deviations during tender reviews.
- Calculate and estimate costs relating to materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Maintain close coordination with suppliers, subcontractors, project personnel, and engineering disciplines.
- Assist in bid submissions and take part in technical clarification meetings as needed.
- Ensure all solutions align with client specifications and project requirements.
- Carry out fundamental mechanical engineering calculations such as pump sizing, piping pressure drops, HVAC cooling load estimations, and initial equipment sizing.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in Technical Office roles and Cost Estimation activities.
- Prior exposure to Power Generation Plants and projects with the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) is particularly advantageous.
- Comprehensive understanding of piping systems, pumps, HVAC systems, and mechanical equipment.
- Experience in industrial EPC settings, mechanical installations, maintenance, and construction projects.
- Proficient use of AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and BOQ preparation techniques.
- Knowledge of SEC standards, tendering processes, and project execution expectations is desirable.
- Strong analytical abilities combined with effective communication and coordination skills.
