Position Overview
Join Royal Mail at the Clitheroe Delivery Office (BB7 2AJ) as a Postal Delivery Driver on a permanent contract. This vital role connects communities by delivering important mail and parcels across Clitheroe. This opportunity offers an hourly wage of £13.68 with paid overtime available and involves working 35 hours weekly on a rotating schedule across Monday to Sunday.
Work Details and Schedule
- Scheduled for 5 days within a 7-day week, with shifts between 08:00-15:00 or 13:00-19:00.
- The rota includes varied routes and weekend work to meet demand.
- Sunday shifts are conducted at the Pendle Delivery Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Sorting letters and parcels at the delivery office.
- Delivering mail by a Royal Mail van and on foot within the local area.
- Establishing and maintaining positive community relations.
- Working outside regardless of weather conditions.
The role involves delivering a variety of items such as exam results, birthday cards, and business deliveries, offering a sense of reward despite the challenges.
Role Characteristics
- Physically demanding and fast-moving position requiring extensive walking (up to 12 miles or over 20,000 steps daily).
- Daily driving of a Royal Mail van.
- Delivering high volumes of letters and parcels under time-sensitive conditions, especially during peak times.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a full UK manual driving licence with a maximum of 6 penalty points, registered to the current name and address.
- Physically capable of handling long-distance walking, stair climbing, hill navigation, and carrying mailbags over 10kg.
- Reliable, self-driven, organised, resilient, and customer-oriented.
- Comfortable working independently outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Passable driving assessment required.
