About the Role
Join the Royal Mail as a Postal Delivery Driver based in Tewkesbury Delivery Office (GL20 8GT). This full-time permanent position involves working 37 hours per week with shifts scheduled 5 days out of 7 between Monday and Sunday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. You will support two types of shifts focused on either letter or parcel deliveries and work with a rotating schedule that includes some weekends. Sundays will be worked at the Cheltenham Delivery Office. The hourly salary for this role is 3.68, paid monthly, with opportunities for paid overtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office before routes.
- Deliver mail on foot and by van throughout the local community.
- Engage with customers to build strong relationships through excellent service.
- Operate outdoors performing physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions.
- Ensure timely and secure delivery of letters, parcels, election materials, and special items such as food or alcohol.
What to Expect
- Walking distances of up to 12 miles (over 20,000 steps) daily.
- Driving Royal Mail vans and performing fast-paced delivery schedules.
- Handling and delivering high volumes of post during busy periods.
- Working independently with a need for resilience and organizational skills.
Candidate Requirements
- Hold a valid manual UK driving license with no more than six penalty points, registered to your current name and address.
- Capability and willingness to drive Royal Mail vans and pass the required driving assessment.
- Physical fitness to walk long distances, climb stairs and hills, and lift mailbags weighing 10kg or more.
- Reliability, motivation, and a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work autonomously and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
