It ensures the delivery of secure, reliable, and high-performance infrastructure services aligned with organisational objectives and agreed service levels.
Key Responsibilities

- Ensure platform availability by overseeing incident management, leading on-call rotations, and serving as the escalation point for complex, impactful issues.
- Maintain end-to-end operational responsibility for platform services through direct teams and Managed Service Partners, ensuring visibility, compliance with technical standards, and meeting service expectations.
- Contribute to governance and service-level management activities while monitoring platform health, capacity, performance, and enforcing security compliance aligned with the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM) and relevant frameworks.
- Collaborate across cloud, connectivity, High-Performance Computing (HPC), and application teams to support integrated service delivery and coordinate project and program resources effectively.
- Manage the lifecycle of platform assets including patching, upgrades, and hardware/software refreshes to ensure system currency and risk mitigation.
- Sustain strong vendor partnerships, participate in procurement and contract management, and oversee a substantial operational budget to guarantee efficient service operations.
- Engage actively in governance forums such as the Change Advisory Board (CAB), applying ITIL-aligned service management practices to promote operational discipline, continuous improvement, and progressive maturity of platform services.
Additional Information
The role operates within a mission-critical environment requiring leadership in both technical and operational aspects to maintain platform stability and service excellence. Close collaboration across multiple teams and with external partners is essential to achieving operational goals and compliance requirements.
