Role Overview

The Platform Engineer will join the Technical Operations team in Dublin, working under the Platform Engineering Manager. This role involves ensuring the availability and performance of customer-facing and production systems around the clock. Responsibilities include participating in on-call rotations, collaborating with development teams to optimize services, and advancing the technology infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform, developing reusable modules.
• Operate and improve Kubernetes production environments utilizing tools like Helm, Karpenter, ArgoCD, and AWS EKS.
• Develop and maintain GitOps-based CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and applications.
• Enhance platform stability through monitoring, alerting, and observability with Prometheus, Grafana, CheckMK, and custom tools.
• Automate tasks and processes using scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Go, and Rust.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues related to infrastructure, networking, containers, and applications.
• Support and optimize large-scale database systems primarily using MySQL, with PostgreSQL as an advantage.
• Participate in capacity planning, scaling strategies, and performance tuning efforts.
• Lead initiatives to improve operational excellence and reduce incidents.
• Manage centralized logging solutions including Elasticsearch, Filebeat, rsyslog, and Kibana.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation and contribute to a 24/7 on-call support rotation.
• Collaborate with developer teams on tooling, service enhancements, and change management processes.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in technical support, system administration, or platform/infrastructure engineering.
• Competent in LAMP/LNMP stack environments.
• Practical experience working with Kubernetes and Docker containers.
• Familiarity with modern CI/CD tools like GitLab CI/CD or Jenkins.
• Solid Linux administration and troubleshooting expertise.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, including DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, load balancing, TLS, and caching.
• Experience automating cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform.
• Proficient in Elasticsearch and log management technologies.
• Ability to script effectively in Python, Bash, or similar languages.
• Experience managing MySQL databases.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Desirable Skills

• Knowledge of configuration management tools such as Chef or Cinc.
• Experience with PostgreSQL databases.
• Ability to leverage AI tools to enhance code quality and establish AI workflows.
