Platform Architect (End-User Computing)

About the Role

We seek a seasoned Platform Architect specializing in End-User Computing (EUC) with over 10 years of experience, including at least 5 years focusing on the engineering and delivery of enterprise-scale Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions. The ideal candidate will be proficient in designing and managing environments using Omnissa Horizon, Microsoft Intune, Entra ID, Island.io, IGEL OS, and endpoint management tools. This position involves leading architectural design, creating detailed High-Level and Low-Level Design documents, and ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, and robust digital workplace systems across both on-premises and cloud settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and own the development of the EUC platform's High-Level and Low-Level Designs and lead the design approval processes.
• Specify and define components of the Omnissa Horizon stack including Horizon Client, Blast Protocol, App Volumes, and Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM) along with packaging standards.
• Architect the deployment and policy settings of Island.io Enterprise Browser with integrations to Microsoft 365 and Conditional Access strategies.
• Design the management and configuration strategy for IGEL thin clients.
• Establish application delivery standards, physical endpoint specifications, and required hardware lists.
• Create segregated and restricted VDI configurations to comply with various security use cases.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum five years experience as a Platform Architect or Senior EUC Architect on extensive VDI projects.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale Omnissa Horizon VDI deployments, including hybrid on-premises and cloud environments.
• Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Intune for endpoint compliance and configuration, Microsoft EntraID, and Apple Business Manager.
• Working knowledge of Island.io design and deployment techniques.
• Experience in IGEL OS deployment and integration with Omnissa Horizon.
• Experience working within regulated industries with compliance to change control, audit, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong communication skills capable of engaging senior stakeholders and effectively conveying technical concepts to less technical audiences.
• Experience in global, geographically dispersed organizations working across different time zones and cultures.

Technical Expertise

• In-depth knowledge of Omnissa Horizon VDI technologies including Blast Protocol, App Volumes, and DEM.
• Experience with Island.io Enterprise Browser implementation and management.
• Proficient with Microsoft Intune endpoint management encompassing compliance policies, app management, and configuration.
• Expertise in identity management technologies including Microsoft EntraID, Active Directory, Identity Federation, and Conditional Access for Microsoft 365.
• Familiarity with Apple Business Manager, Managed Apple ID, Automated Device Enrollment (ADE) for Intune, and Apple devices deployment.
• Strong background in thin client strategies with IGEL OS on repurposed hardware platforms.
• Experience using Microsoft Azure as the cloud control plane for digital workplace services.
