Role Purpose
The Planning & Trading Executive supports the strategizing, implementation, and management of media campaigns to ensure accurate, efficient execution aligned with client goals. This role involves aiding campaign activation, media buying, financial controls, reporting, and fostering strong relationships with clients and media partners while gaining deep knowledge of the Australian media market.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, managing, and delivering media campaigns across various channels.
- Support day-to-day media trading and campaign execution within the client portfolio.
- Contribute to television media buying, weekly reach and frequency tracking, TARP, CPM, and budget performance reporting.
- Participate in briefing media owners and publishers, managing campaign requirements effectively.
- Monitor campaign progress, proactively reporting challenges and opportunities to management.
- Ensure all campaign activities meet client objectives, investment strategies, and set parameters.
- Help prepare pre-, mid-, and post-campaign reports for clients.
- Support competitive market analysis, delivering relevant insights to teams.
- Aid managers in analyzing media responses and suggesting cost-effective media plans.
- Maintain precise financial records, budget oversight, invoicing, and campaign documentation.
- Manage buy documentation and keep trading records up to date.
- Contribute to new business pitches and additional projects as required.
Relationship Building
- Develop positive connections with clients, media partners, and internal teams.
- Collaborate across Planning, Activation, Digital, and Client services to ensure campaign success.
- Communicate efficiently with media owners regarding bookings and delivery expectations.
- Establish relationships with junior client contacts and media vendors.
Quality Assurance
- Complete assigned duties with accuracy and meet deadlines.
- Maintain high standards of detail in campaign execution, financials, and reporting.
- Keep campaign documents and systems consistently accurate and current.
- Deliver work with professionalism and pride in quality.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 12 to 18 months’ experience in a media agency or similar environment.
- Preferably hold a university degree or higher education qualification.
- Progressive understanding of the Australian media ecosystem.
- Developing skills in media buying and negotiation.
- Knowledge of offline media channels; digital media experience is advantageous.
- Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Effective written and verbal communication capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
