Engineer - Piping (Field)

Role Purpose

As a Piping Field Engineer, reporting to the Piping and Layout Manager, you will join the Saipem Qatar Engineering Fixed Facilities Department. Your responsibilities will include coordinating technical activities internally and externally, ensuring effective stress analysis design of piping systems across all project stages from proposal through to site material management, and managing piping supports materials procurement and bid evaluations.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate technical activities inside and outside Saipem.
• Ensure proper technical and cost-efficient piping network stress analyses for all project phases including proposal, FEED, EPC, and site management.
• Issue technical supply specifications for material requisitions and conduct technical bid evaluations for piping support components.
• Communicate and collaborate with project leads and technical teams for optimal piping solutions and improvements.
• Adhere strictly to QA/QC and HSE standards throughout all duties.
• Provide technical support for development technology and commercial proposals.
• Analyze tender documents and perform preliminary calculations for critical piping networks.
• Manage purchase requisitions for market investigations and technical bid comparisons.
• Estimate mechanical and budget quantities of piping materials and support engineering hour definitions.
• Set up and maintain project software tools ensuring quality, budget compliance, and schedule adherence for piping flexibility analysis tasks.
• Review client documentation, design all piping support components, and issue technical specifications and stress analyses.
• Identify critical piping lines and perform associated calculations.
• Handle full procurement cycle for piping support materials including purchase requisitions, technical enquires, and bid evaluations facilitated via SAP.
• Maintain project technical files, update company standards, and review subcontractor deliverables.
• Conduct checks on isometric drawings for critical line construction.
• Document and capitalize on piping flexibility activities during projects.
• Support piping support material feasibility studies.
• Provide onsite technical assistance and engineering adjustments during construction and start-up phases.
• Coordinate with discipline leads and other engineers to harmonize design methods and workflows.
• Support projects and procurement teams in handling non-standard issues and define technical standards improvements.
• Participate in vendor qualification and procurement strategy development.
• Innovate design tools and contribute to lessons learned for continuous process improvement.

Candidate Profile

• Educational qualification: Diploma or Degree in Piping, Offshore, or Pipeline Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional background: Minimum eight years offshore experience with at least three years in a supervisory position.
• Languages: Proficient command of English communication.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

• Mandatory offshore working experience.
• Experience with EPC projects.
• Familiarity with company processes and quality standards.
• Competence in project management tools and methodologies.
• Thorough understanding of DNV-ST-F101, API, and other international standards.
• Preferably knowledgeable about QE LNG project requirements and offshore operational standards.

Information Technology Skills

• Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel (advanced level), PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience with Microsoft Project for scheduling and planning.
