Physical Therapy Technologist

Job Summary

Assist individuals impacted by injury or illness in recovering or enhancing physical function through tailored medical services. Assess patient conditions thoroughly and develop individualized rehabilitation programs aimed at optimizing mobility and overall quality of life.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement medically prescribed physical therapy treatments for patients with injuries or musculoskeletal, neural, joint, and bone disorders to restore function, alleviate pain, and prevent further disability.
• Analyze physician referrals and patient medical histories to determine appropriate physical therapy interventions.
• Evaluate patients by measuring muscle strength, motor skills, sensory perception, functional abilities, and cardiovascular and respiratory performance, documenting results to create or amend therapy plans.
• Formulate and document customized treatment regimens based on initial and ongoing patient evaluations; conduct manual exercises to enhance physical function.
• Stay updated on latest practices and evidence-based protocols in physical therapy to provide optimal care.
• Administer physical modalities including hydrotherapy, whirlpool baths, moist heat packs, ultraviolet and infrared light treatments, and ultrasound therapies; monitor treatment effectiveness and adjust as needed for maximum benefit.
• Maintain accurate records of treatment sessions, patient response, and therapy progression, utilizing digital systems when available.
• Educate patients and their families on at-home care procedures; liaise with physicians and healthcare team members to coordinate and refine treatment plans; supervise therapy assistants and aides; ensure appropriate handovers during absences.
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned within the scope of role responsibilities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Willingness and capability to work respectfully with a culturally diverse and physically disabled clientele.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to perform effectively under pressure.
• Clear and effective communication skills for interaction with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
• 0 to 2 years professional experience as a physical therapist.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution including completion of clinical internship required for licensing.
• Possession of an active physical therapy license valid under the relevant regional health authorities (e.g., SCFHS or DHA).
• Proficient in spoken and written English; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
