About the Role
Ortu Software Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a skilled PHP Developer to remotely develop and support WordPress websites as well as tailor-made PHP applications. Initially working from home with plans to transition to the Noida office, this full-time position calls for a candidate with at least 2 years of experience. The developer will collaborate closely with project managers, designers, and quality assurance teams to translate requirements into tested, deployed features.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain custom PHP application modules using MVC frameworks.
- Customize and create WordPress themes and plugins leveraging WordPress APIs and hooks.
- Compose and optimize MySQL queries, resolve data inconsistencies, and integrate external APIs.
- Troubleshoot bugs across PHP and JavaScript platforms.
- Manage PHP version upgrades and dependency updates, verify compatibility, and validate changes in staging before production deployment.
- Employ Git for source code control, adhere to secure coding standards, and document any deployment-impacting modifications.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum two years of practical experience working with PHP, MySQL, and JavaScript.
- Proficient in at least one PHP MVC framework such as Laravel, CodeIgniter, or CakePHP.
- Ability to build and modify WordPress themes and plugins effectively.
- Strong foundation in object-oriented PHP, SQL, HTML, CSS, and RESTful APIs.
- Capable of writing clear, maintainable code and systematically diagnosing problems.
- Good communication skills, proactive in assignment management, early identification of blockers, and meeting deadlines.
Preferred Expertise
- Shopify theme development and customization using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, including creating custom sections and adjusting theme settings. Familiarity with Shopify APIs or third-party app integrations is advantageous.
- Experience with WordPress/WooCommerce store customization and third-party plugin integrations.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Codex for feature creation, debugging, and test automation. Ability to review AI-generated code for security and compatibility before merging.
- Experience maintaining and upgrading legacy PHP applications as well as live customer websites.
