Overview
We seek a precise and responsible Pharmacist to manage medication dispensing in hospital settings. This role encompasses verifying prescriptions, maintaining inventory, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing clear guidance to patients and healthcare personnel on medicine use.
Key Duties
- Verify prescriptions carefully to ensure correct dosage, avoid drug interactions, and confirm patient safety.
- Dispense medications accurately using barcode systems for outpatient and inpatient departments, including billing preparation.
- Deliver medicines to inpatient beds as per hospital schedules and provide counseling on drug usage, storage, and dosage instructions.
- Maintain proper storage conditions and conduct daily inventory checks; report discrepancies or shortages promptly.
- Manage documentation for high-risk, controlled, and narcotic drugs according to legal requirements.
- Facilitate smooth pharmacy operations including token systems, billing voucher preparation, and maintaining cleanliness and orderliness at the pharmacy counters.
- Engage and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, hospital staff, and coordinate with doctors and nurses on medication needs.
- Adhere strictly to regulatory frameworks such as the Drugs & Cosmetics Act and hospital policies, assist in audits and quality assessments.
- Additional tasks include obtaining daily patient feedback, handling special drug requests, and completing shift duties thoroughly before handover.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor degree in Pharmacy (D. Pharm or B. Pharm).
- Registered with State Pharmacy Council.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in hospital pharmacy preferred.
- Familiarity with hospital pharmacy software and barcode-based dispensing systems.
Required Skills
- In-depth pharmaceutical knowledge including drug interactions.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing medication.
- Effective inventory and stock management capabilities.
- Strong communication skills for patient and staff counselling.
- Ethical conduct and responsibility in pharmaceutical practices.
- Ability to work in rotational shift schedules within the hospital environment.
Working Conditions
