Job Overview
The Cashier at Pet Food Experts is tasked with delivering exceptional customer service following company standards, efficiently managing sales transactions, operating the cash register, and safeguarding company assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a welcoming environment by greeting and acknowledging every customer while maintaining strong product knowledge and high customer service standards.
- Stay informed about current promotions and advertisements.
- Perform register operations quickly and accurately, managing all cash and products involved.
- Process various payment methods including cash, credit cards, checks, gift cards, promotional items, coupons, and loyalty rewards accurately.
- Document offline sales transactions meticulously.
- Relay customer requests promptly to management.
- Assist customers by offering to carry heavy or bulky purchases.
- Maintain inventory accuracy by recording usage or damage to products per inventory procedures.
- Keep the register area organized and adequately stocked.
- Stock merchandise on the sales floor, price items, and promptly store backstock.
- Perform dusting and cleaning duties in assigned areas.
- Undertake any additional duties assigned by management as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills
- Capability to operate register systems for processing merchandise and information.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
- Proficient in reading, counting, and documenting accurately.
- Skillful in operating all equipment necessary for the role.
- Physical ability to stand for long durations and handle items up to 50 lbs throughout the store.
- Comfortable working around a variety of live animals.
Experience and Education
Minimum 6 months of relevant work experience, volunteer work, or participation in school activities is required. Specifically, at least 3 months of experience with cash handling is mandatory.
Work Schedule
Flexibility to work varied shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidays is necessary.
