Performance Test Lead

About the Role

The company is in search of a seasoned Performance Engineer Lead to autonomously design and drive performance engineering strategies tailored for their client engagements. The initial focus will predominantly be on API performance testing within API modernization projects, expanding subsequently into a comprehensive enterprise-wide performance testing methodology.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and take ownership of performance testing strategies, including planning, execution, analysis, and delivering actionable performance recommendations.
• Hands-on expertise in API performance testing utilizing tools such as Neoload or comparable alternatives.
• Define workload models, set SLAs/non-functional requirements, create baselines, and develop various test scenarios like load, stress, and endurance to determine acceptance criteria for performance.
• Investigate and diagnose performance bottlenecks across multiple layers including APIs, applications, infrastructure, databases, and downstream systems.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with architects, developers, vendors, and business units to proactively identify potential performance risks.
• Evaluate performance testing conducted by SaaS or product vendors to determine additional client-specific validation needs and reuse or enhance vendor scripts for client-specific integrations, customizations, workloads, and user journeys.
• Establish reusable performance testing assets, generate detailed reports and dashboards, and embed continuous performance testing practices.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of 12 years in performance engineering and testing, including leadership experience steering performance initiatives.
• Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in API and integration performance testing with the ability to independently strategize rather than merely execute prepared scripts.
• Proficient in root cause analysis, bottleneck diagnosis, monitoring tools, and interpreting performance data effectively.
• Experience integrating performance testing activities within CI/CD pipelines.
• Prior exposure to healthcare payer domain is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills to convey performance insights and provide recommendations to both technical and executive stakeholders.
