Job description
Overview
The Payroll Specialist serves as a vital contributor to the business unit team, providing consultation across various organizational and management topics. The primary responsibility is to accurately and promptly process payrolls for 60 to 80 clients with diverse pay schedules and complexities. This specialist collaborates closely with clients to comprehend their payroll and accounting procedures and suggests improvements for enhanced efficiency.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage high-volume payroll execution, including on-cycle and off-cycle runs for over 800 employees spanning multiple client companies.
- Develop expertise in onboarding new clients and mastering BBSI payroll, CRM (Salesforce), timekeeping, and HRIS platforms, identifying system enhancements beneficial to clients and internal team members.
- Conduct on-site training sessions for client payroll systems, HR portals, and relevant software functionalities.
- Become a subject matter expert on client workforce data such as employee turnover, seasonal and ongoing headcount changes, time and attendance, payroll bridge construction, data import/export processes, prevailing wages, job costing, certified payroll, and tailored client reporting.
Candidate Profile and Desired Skills
- A minimum of five years payroll experience, preferably managing multiple client accounts in fast-paced environments.
- Strong aptitude for client service combined with excellent communication capabilities at all organizational levels.
- Proven track record in streamlining processes and implementing improvements within payroll or accounting roles.
- Experience in bookkeeping or accounting is advantageous.
- Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset focused on driving client and business success.
- Thorough knowledge of wage and hour regulations and wage taxability.
- Familiarity with workers' compensation claims management is beneficial.
- Proficiency with MS Office tools, especially Outlook, Excel, and Word; experience with CRM and Citrix platforms preferred; HRP software experience highly valued.
- Associate’s degree is preferred; advanced qualifications are a plus.
- Certifications such as CPP or FPC are strongly favored.
- Approximately 10% local travel (within 50 miles) for client meetings and on-site training is expected.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting hourly wage of $33.65, influenced by location, skills, education, experience, and certifications.
- Eligibility for incentive pay according to company plans.
