Role Summary
We are seeking a Payroll Operations Specialist to be an integral part of the ANZ Payroll team based in Sydney. Reporting to the Payroll Manager and collaborating with Payroll Officers, the successful candidate will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for Johnson Controls employees across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily operational support for payroll functions across Australia and New Zealand, ensuring that payments are processed accurately and on schedule.
- Maintain and regularly update payroll documentation, including process guides, checklists, and calendar schedules.
- Handle the accurate processing of all statutory and non-statutory payments.
- Ensure data integrity within payroll systems and adherence to country-specific legislative requirements.
- Administer payroll processes such as data gathering, calculation, and data entry effectively.
- Generate summaries related to earnings, taxes, deductions, leave balances, insurance, and non-taxable wages.
- Identify and resolve payroll inconsistencies, including performing necessary reconciliations.
- Support payroll tasks associated with month-end and year-end closing.
- Ensure timely and precise submission of Single Touch Payroll and Pay Day Filing obligations.
- Manage payroll and employee master files meticulously.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors to facilitate seamless payroll operations.
- Address employee payroll inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Assist in payroll system upgrade or migration projects alongside other assigned duties.
- Stay informed about regulatory updates and best practice standards in payroll management.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 8 years’ professional experience in payroll or human resources operations.
- Strong ability to interpret workplace Awards and Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs).
- Proficient with payroll software such as Chris21, Ramco, Workday, or MS CRM Dynamics.
- Experience operating within unionized employment settings.
- Preferred payroll certification credentials.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business, or related disciplines.
- Exceptional attention to detail, effective time management skills, and strong communication abilities.
- Capability to handle sensitive information with utmost professionalism and discretion.
