Role Overview
We are inviting applications for an experienced Payroll Officer to become part of our HR Services & Reward team located in Burswood, Western Australia. This newly established position is ideal for a professional with strong Australian payroll experience who can confidently meet deadlines, maintain precise employee records, and offer dependable payroll assistance to employees and leadership. The role involves managing weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payroll cycles for both hourly and salaried Australian employees.
Responsibilities
- Execute Australian payroll processing for weekly, fortnightly, and monthly cycles accurately and punctually.
- Oversee updates related to employee status, benefits, deductions, leave entitlements, and termination pay.
- Support attendance and time-tracking systems for hourly and operational personnel.
- Analyze payroll and timekeeping data in compliance with awards, agreements, and legislation.
- Handle payroll inquiries from employees, managers, and supervisors professionally.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies swiftly.
- Complete payroll reconciliations, generate reports, maintain records, and assist with audit activities.
- Ensure the upkeep of accurate and confidential employee and payroll information.
- Contribute to process improvements enhancing payroll data accuracy and overall efficiency.
- Safeguard all sensitive employee data with discretion and integrity.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Minimum of three years’ hands-on payroll experience within an Australian context.
- Proficient in processing payrolls across multiple pay frequencies: weekly, fortnightly, and monthly.
- Practical experience managing payroll for both hourly and salaried staff.
- Familiarity with ADP payroll software is highly preferred.
- Experience using UKG/Kronos or similar attendance management systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of Australian payroll legislation, including awards, agreements, tax laws, superannuation, and wage compliance.
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort handling payroll datasets.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to critically assess payroll data for accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills capable of balancing multiple payroll deadlines.
- Service-oriented mindset to effectively support staff and management.
- Industry experience in manufacturing, mining, industrial services, or operational workforce environments will be regarded as an advantage.
