Role Overview
The Payroll Officer position, reporting to the Financial Controller and based at the Somersby Head Office, is tasked with full ownership of SPA’s payroll processing. This includes overseeing weekly, fortnightly, and salary payrolls for employees nationwide, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
Responsibilities
- Handle complete payroll processing across all SPA operations.
- Ensure adherence to relevant Awards, Enterprise Agreements, and Australian payroll legislation.
- Conduct reconciliations, prepare reports, and meet statutory payroll reporting obligations.
- Manage payroll processes throughout the employee lifecycle, from onboarding through to termination.
- Offer expert payroll guidance and maintain strong stakeholder relations, while driving process enhancements.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated expertise in managing comprehensive payroll functions within a complex, multisite setting.
- In-depth understanding of Awards, Enterprise Agreements, and payroll-related laws.
- Proficient in payroll systems, detailed reporting, reconciliations, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a track record of swiftly resolving payroll discrepancies.
- Excellent communicator with strong ability to handle confidential information tactfully and foster positive stakeholder relationships.
- A proactive problem solver dedicated to ongoing improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified payroll professional or affiliation with the Australian Payroll Association or TAPS.
- Familiarity with Jobpac or comparable ERP/payroll platforms, SharePoint, and experience in industries like construction, manufacturing, transport, or other blue-collar sectors with multiple EBAs.
