We are seeking a Payroll Assistant at the entry level to join our welcoming and cooperative payroll team. This role offers comprehensive training and continual support, ideal for individuals who are organized, detail-focused, and enthusiastic about developing a career in payroll.
Key Responsibilities
- Aid in processing payrolls on weekly, fortnightly, and monthly schedules.
- Upload payslips and payroll data securely using online platforms such as Sage.
- Maintain and accurately update employee records.
- Support reporting activities and submissions required by HM Revenue & Customs.
- Manage the uploading of pension-related data to relevant providers.
- Develop skills in addressing payroll queries and offering basic client guidance.
- Assist with manual payroll calculations and gain knowledge about statutory payments.
- Understand payroll deductions including taxes, National Insurance, pensions, and student loans.
- Learn about Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) submission processes.
Desired Skills and Knowledge
- Motivated to commence a payroll or finance career.
- Highly organized and committed to precise work.
- Comfortable with numbers and adapting to new software applications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and competent with other IT tools.
- Effective communicator and team player.
- Keen to develop within a nurturing environment.
- Experience with SAGE Payroll or prior office environment experience is a plus.
