Role Overview
The University of Georgia is hiring a Payroll Analyst to support a customer-oriented payroll team in Athens, Georgia. This role is focused on managing payroll processing and payroll records for a large university workforce, including approximately 25,500 W-2s generated each year. The position involves handling payroll data, resolving payroll issues, supporting customer service requests, and working closely with distributed departments and the University System of Georgia Shared Services Center.
Key Responsibilities
You will help prepare biweekly and monthly payrolls by reviewing queries and reports in OneUSG Connect, identifying problems, and making sure issues are resolved before payroll is finalized. The role also includes maintaining payroll records and data files, updating Time Reporter information, monitoring system data for pay discrepancies, and assisting with overpayment and retro pay processing. In addition, you will troubleshoot timeclock issues and coordinate with UGA departments and shared services teams to correct payroll-related errors.
Work Environment and Schedule
This is a full-time, on-site position based in the Athens area. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The role requires flexibility, the ability to stay productive in a high-pressure and fast-moving setting, and the capacity to meet strict production deadlines.
Qualifications and Competencies
The role calls for someone who is organized, detail-focused, and able to manage changing priorities while working independently and as part of a team. Strong interpersonal skills, discretion with confidential information, solid communication abilities, and good research and problem-solving skills are important. Proficiency with Microsoft applications is expected, along with knowledge of payroll administration practices. Experience with PeopleSoft-based HCM or similar HRMS software and prior payroll experience in higher education are preferred.
