Role Overview

As a Pathology Collector based in Dubbo, you will be responsible for collecting blood and other clinical samples in a professional and compassionate manner. Your role will be vital in providing patients with a comforting and confident healthcare experience as the first point of contact in their diagnostic journey. The position requires full-time commitment with a schedule from Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect blood and other bodily samples ensuring precision and care
• Create a welcoming and calm environment for all patients
• Accurately prepare and package specimens following strict protocols for transport
• Keep detailed and accurate records and adhere to all procedural requirements
• Assist in maintaining smooth daily operations at the specimen collection centre

Qualifications and Experience

• Prior experience in pathology collection is preferred but not mandatory
• Certificate III in Pathology Collection is an advantage but not required
• Backgrounds in healthcare sectors such as aged care, nursing, or disability support, or customer-facing roles that demonstrate strong interpersonal skills are highly valued

Additional Requirements

• Must hold or be willing to obtain a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to starting the role
• Need to provide proof of immunization including Hepatitis B

Training

The role includes completing a 6-week paid training program through Healius Academy designed to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge essential for pathology sample collection. Initial training requires full-time hours for 2 weeks, with a minimum of 25 hours per week thereafter. The program may be accelerated based on prior experience.
