Role Overview
The Partsperson plays a key role in managing the inventory of materials essential to BC Transit’s maintenance workshops. Responsibilities include issuing parts to maintenance personnel, monitoring and ordering stock, handling shipments, conducting inventory audits, and maintaining accurate records within the Vehicle Maintenance System. Administrative duties such as managing files and preparing requisitions also form part of the role.
Work Environment and Schedule
This position operates from the Langford Transit Centre and Victoria Transit Centre. Reliable transportation is required to travel between both locations. The working hours vary with shifts scheduled between 5:30 AM and 2:30 AM.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of Grade 12 education.
- Trade Certificate of Qualification in Parts Person or equivalent Red Seal Parts Certification.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Prior experience in inventory control using computerized systems.
- Familiarity with inventory management software, strong attention to detail, and ability to perform under time constraints.
- Knowledge of Diesel, CNG, Gasoline, and Electric engines; understanding of Air Brake and Suspension systems considered advantageous.
