Role Overview

The Parts Technician serves as the primary customer liaison within the Parts Department, handling both walk-in and phone inquiries for parts and accessories applicable to diverse agricultural machinery. This role ensures inventory accuracy, efficient order fulfillment, and retail sales support, while aiding service and field operations across the dealership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver courteous and professional customer interactions, ensuring respectful and positive service experiences.
  • Accurately supply customers with parts, accessories, and supplies in a timely manner.
  • Encourage sales by promoting seasonal parts and additional accessories when suitable.
  • Engage in phone, email, and marketing initiatives to drive parts sales growth.
  • Meet individual and departmental sales objectives and performance indicators.
  • Maintain precise inventory records covering stock quantities, part identifiers, bin placements, and pricing details.
  • Process incoming shipments by inspecting, labeling, and organizing stock according to safe material handling practices.
  • Monitor inventory levels proactively, recommending reorder quantities to avoid stockouts or delays.
  • Assist with scheduled physical inventory counts, reporting discrepancies promptly.
  • Keep the parts warehouse and display areas tidy, organized, and free from hazards.
  • Pick, pack, and ship parts orders utilizing correct lifting techniques to avoid injury.
  • Log all sales and transactions into systems such as IntelliDealer following departmental protocols.
  • Track and update backorders, communicate estimated arrival times, and offer alternative options where possible.
  • Prepare accurate shipping and receiving documentation, including labels and storage requirements.
  • Stay informed on product lines, manufacturer bulletins, safety data (WHMIS), and parts catalog updates.
  • Participate in vendor trainings, toolbox talks, and team meetings to keep knowledge current.
  • Maintain expertise in agricultural equipment, attachments, hydraulics, and OEM cross-reference systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years’ experience with heavy equipment, automotive, agricultural, or industrial parts.
  • Familiarity with parts catalogs, OEM references, and cross-referencing tools is necessary.
  • Proficient computer skills for data input, order processing, and inventory control; experience with IntelliDealer is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to foster strong customer relationships.
  • Detail-oriented approach ensuring accuracy in parts identification and recordkeeping.
  • Organized and capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently in a dynamic work environment.
  • Sales-driven mindset with skills in suggestive selling and promoting related parts or accessories.
  • Basic warehouse operations knowledge including shipping, receiving, picking, packing, and documenting inventory.
  • Flexibility to work overtime during peak busy periods and respond to shifting priorities.
