About the Role
Join Mercedes-Benz Melbourne as a skilled Panel Beater, where your expertise will ensure top-tier accident repairs following Mercedes-Benz Autobody standards, OEM guidelines, and insurance policies. You will be entrusted with restoring vehicles both structurally and cosmetically to their original pre-accident condition using approved repair methods and high-quality craftsmanship.
Collaborating within a professional Autobody team, you will coordinate closely with Estimators, fellow Panel Beaters, Painters, Detailers, and the Workshop Controller to maintain a smooth, efficient workflow, ensuring repairs meet the exceptional standards expected of Mercedes-Benz.
The role emphasizes the importance of achieving precise repairs on the first attempt, balancing productivity, repair timelines, safety compliance, and excellence in output quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural and cosmetic panel repairs aligning with Mercedes-Benz Autobody criteria and OEM standards.
- Evaluate vehicle damage and apply suitable repair procedures and techniques.
- Detach, mend, replace, adjust, and fit vehicle body parts as necessary.
- Ensure repairs are completed accurately and efficiently, minimizing the need for rework.
- Work towards meeting productivity goals and repair cycle deadlines.
- Complete job documentation, including job cards, repair notes, parts requisition, and time records meticulously.
- Adhere strictly to OEM repair instructions, insurance protocols, and health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with Estimators, Panel Beaters, Painters, Detailers, and Workshop Controllers.
- Maintain a tidy, organized, and secure workshop environment.
- Properly use and look after workshop tools and equipment.
- Participate in continuous improvement and quality assurance efforts.
- Foster a positive, professional, and cooperative working atmosphere within the workshop.
Candidate Requirements
- Certified Panel Beater with relevant trade qualifications.
- Experience in autobody, smash repairs, or general automotive repair environments.
- Strong proficiency in vehicle body repair techniques and procedures.
- Competence in performing high-quality repairs that conform to OEM specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail with a dedication to "right-first-time" workmanship.
- Capability to work efficiently while achieving productivity and repair time objectives.
- Solid understanding of workplace health and safety standards.
- Ability to accurately complete repair paperwork and job cards.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work well within teams.
- Possession of a valid Australian driver's license.
