OT/ICS Cybersecurity Specialist

Role Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced OT/ICS Cybersecurity Specialist to work mainly within Oil & Gas process control systems. This role is responsible for protecting operational technology and industrial control system environments through expert project leadership, technical support, and cybersecurity risk mitigation.

Key Duties

• Lead and contribute to OT/ICS cybersecurity initiatives at Oil & Gas sites.
• Design, evaluate, and implement security measures for Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), engineering workstations, servers, and industrial networks.
• Conduct vulnerability, threat, and risk assessments specific to OT environments and recommend appropriate countermeasures.
• Support cybersecurity activities throughout testing phases such as Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and on-site installations.
• Analyze network traffic and troubleshoot industrial communication protocols to maintain OT network integrity.
• Engage with diverse ICS/DCS/PLC vendor platforms, collaborating with suppliers and project teams.
• Ensure all solutions comply with OT/IT cybersecurity standards and best practices applicable to the sector.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electronics Engineering, or similar field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Over 15 years of information security experience, including a minimum of 10 years focused on OT/ICS cybersecurity within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Extensive hands-on experience with DCS and PLC systems in OT settings.
• Proficient in industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Vnet, OPC, TCP/IP, UDP, DNP3, IEC 61850, OPC UA, and PROFINET.
• Solid understanding of operating systems, network infrastructures, firewall configurations, routing, switching, Active Directory, and system hardening techniques.
• Experience with ICS OEMs like Honeywell, GE, ABB, Yokogawa, Schneider Electric, Emerson, and Siemens.
• In-depth knowledge of OT specific threats, vulnerabilities, exploit techniques, and mitigation strategies.
• Familiar with cybersecurity frameworks and standards including NESA IAS, ISO 27001, ISA/IEC 62443, and NIST guidelines.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Work Location and Additional Information

The position will be based in Abu Dhabi, at the company’s head office, Oil & Gas project locations, client sites, or vendor facilities for activities like FAT. Travel may be necessary depending on project requirements.
