Role Overview

The Orientation & Mobility Specialist role involves collaborating directly with clients to assess and enhance their independent travel skills. This includes evaluation, training, intervention, and coordinating services that promote accessibility and equitable experiences for people with low vision or blindness. Services are provided across all ages including clients, caregivers, and families.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate clients’ capability to navigate safely and confidently in desired community environments.
• Recommend and prescribe various mobility aids tailored to individual requirements.
• Provide guidance on the use of low vision aids when relevant to mobility plans.

Candidate Profile

• Possess tertiary qualification in Orientation and Mobility with current Certificate of Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) accreditation.
• Demonstrated expertise in supporting children, adults, and seniors through O&M services both in-person and via remote communication methods.
• Experience facilitating client support and delivering tailored training and intervention to individuals and groups.

Compensation

The role offers a salary starting at $102,132 plus superannuation along with the possibility of salary packaging benefits up to $15,900 annually.
