Job Overview

The Oracle Specialist, focusing on Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) Application Framework (OAF), is tasked with designing, customizing, maintaining, and supporting Oracle EBS applications. This role involves hands-on development and enhancement of OAF pages, JSP components, and other RICEW (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Extensions, Workflows) elements, collaborating closely with functional consultants and business stakeholders. The specialist ensures compliance with Oracle development standards and internal IT governance, aiming to uphold system performance, stability, and data integrity. This position functions independently without direct leadership responsibilities.

Primary Duties

  • Develop, customize, test, and maintain Oracle EBS applications using Oracle Application Framework technologies.
  • Create and support OAF pages, JSP components, controllers, application modules, and view objects.
  • Develop and manage RICEW components such as reports, interfaces, conversions, extensions, and workflows.
  • Implement authorized OAF personalizations and extensions preserving core Oracle functionalities.
  • Adhere to Oracle EBS architecture guidelines, coding standards, version control, and organizational IT policies.
  • Conduct code reviews and apply improvements under senior teams' guidance.

Technical Analysis and Solution Design

  • Collaborate with functional consultants and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical designs.
  • Draft technical specifications consistent with approved functional needs.
  • Evaluate the impact of proposed changes, identifying dependencies and risks.
  • Advocate for feasible technical solutions aligned with architecture, security, and maintainability standards.
  • Engage in technical reviews and discussions for project developments.

Support and Troubleshooting

  • Provide technical assistance for Oracle EBS OAF-related incidents and service requests across all environments.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues involving OAF, JSP, Java, SQL, PL/SQL, XML, web services, and related components.
  • Analyze root causes for recurrent or complex system defects and performance problems.
  • Implement corrective measures and escalate critical issues when necessary.
  • Coordinate with multiple teams including functional, infrastructure, and vendors for issue resolution.

Performance Optimization

  • Monitor and tune performance of OAF components, application code, database queries, and interfaces.
  • Identify bottlenecks and assist in implementing corrective and preventive steps.
  • Optimize SQL, PL/SQL, Java code, and OAF pages.
  • Support Oracle EBS upgrades, patches, and system enhancements.
  • Conduct post-implementation validation to ensure application stability and functionality.
  • Escalate major risks concerning performance, capacity, or reliability.

Documentation, Testing and Team Collaboration

  • Prepare and update technical specifications, code documentation, test plans, deployment guides, and technical manuals.
  • Execute unit and integration testing to validate that solutions meet requirements.
  • Assist functional teams and business users during integration and user acceptance testing.
  • Support deployment and migration processes for approved technical changes.
  • Collaborate with IT teams, business units, and vendors to ensure timely delivery.
  • Maintain communication regarding progress, risks, and completion of technical tasks.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Oracle E-Business Suite technical certification preferred.
  • Additional certifications in Java, Oracle databases, application development, or integration technologies are advantageous.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in Oracle EBS technical development and support.
  • At least 3 years of direct experience with Oracle Application Framework development.
  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, Java, JSP, XML, web services, and Oracle EBS technologies.
  • Experience working with RICEW components and knowledge of Oracle EBS modules such as Inventory, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Projects.
  • Familiarity with the Complex Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (CMRO) module and aviation or MRO environments is a plus.
