About the Role

This opportunity is presented by a partner company based in Saudi Arabia seeking a highly skilled Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to work entirely remotely. The role involves managing diverse Oracle database environments (10g, 11g, 12c, and 19c) and delivering expert DBA services including upgrades, migrations, performance tuning, and high availability management. You will tackle complex client projects while ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performing database platforms. Key attributes for success include strong technical acumen, analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate both independently and within consulting teams. Additionally, the role offers engagement with modern cloud systems and the challenge of resolving sophisticated infrastructure and database issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee Oracle database environments spanning versions 10g through 19c, ensuring consistent performance and stability.
  • Operate and maintain Oracle Engineered Systems such as Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) and Exadata to support intensive workloads.
  • Lead end-to-end database upgrades, including hands-on migration activities to Oracle 19c.
  • Plan and execute database platform migrations with minimal disruption, ensuring data integrity.
  • Identify and resolve performance issues by implementing tuning strategies across Oracle installations.
  • Manage backup and recovery procedures using RMAN, supporting disaster recovery readiness.
  • Maintain database high availability using technologies like Oracle RAC, Data Guard, partitioning, and compression.
  • Use Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control for monitoring and troubleshooting database systems.
  • Support operating systems administration on at least two platforms such as Linux/OEL, Solaris, AIX, or HP-UX.
  • Contribute technical expertise to consulting projects involving implementations, troubleshooting, and upgrades.
  • Estimate project efforts accurately, deliver to commitments, and maintain clear technical documentation.
  • Apply analytical thinking to resolve complex problems and drive practical, innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate effectively within distributed teams and adapt to working outside of regular business hours when necessary.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience as an Oracle DBA across versions 10g to 19c.
  • At least 2 years of direct experience managing Oracle Engineered Systems like ODA or Exadata.
  • Proven track record of upgrading databases to Oracle 19c and performing complex database migrations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle RDBMS architecture, administration, configuration, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Advanced skills in Oracle database performance tuning and RMAN backup/recovery processes.
  • Hands-on familiarity with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, partitioning, and compression technologies.
  • Experience using Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control for database oversight.
  • System administrator competence in at least two operating systems from Linux/OEL, Solaris, AIX, or HP-UX.
  • Strong communication abilities, adept in documentation and client interaction.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills coupled with a practical approach to resolving complex issues.
  • Ability to deliver accurate work estimates and fulfill project commitments consistently.
  • Experience working in fast-paced consulting settings with flexibility for off-hours work.
  • Proven ability to function as a productive team member in distributed project environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Management, or equivalent professional background.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle databases in cloud environments is highly preferred.
  • Comfortable collaborating fully remotely with global client and team members.
