Job description
About Rohit Eye Hospital
Founded in 1991 by Dr. O.P. Agrawal and Dr. Vidhya Agrawal, Rohit Eye Hospital & Child Care Centre is a prominent eye care facility located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. It holds the distinction of being the first hospital in Indore to achieve NABH certification and among the earliest SHCO-accredited centers in the state. In 2021, it became the pioneering eye hospital in the region to obtain full NABH accreditation specific to Eye Care Organizations. The hospital offers advanced, comprehensive eye care employing cutting-edge technologies with a multidisciplinary team comprising ophthalmologists, optometrists, counselors, and surgical staff dedicated to ethical and patient-focused care.
Role Overview
This is an on-site, full-time position for an Optometrist at Rohit Eye Hospital. The role involves performing thorough eye examinations—including refraction and binocular vision assessment—prescribing corrective lenses, and conducting both pre- and post-operative eye evaluations. The Optometrist will collaborate closely with ophthalmologists by assisting in diagnostic evaluations using sophisticated instruments like tonometers, keratometers, and visual field analyzers. Patient education on eye health, diseases, and preventative care forms a critical aspect of this role, alongside maintaining precise clinical documentation and adherence to hospital health and safety protocols. Additional duties may include participating in community outreach, coordinating with clinical teams, and following stringent quality assurance standards.
Qualifications & Skills
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Optometry from an accredited institution, with valid or eligible professional registration.
- Expertise in core optometric procedures such as refraction, contact lens fitting, binocular vision testing, and basic low-vision assessments.
- Proficient operation of ophthalmic diagnostic equipment, including slit lamps, autorefractometers, keratometers, tonometers, and visual field analyzers.
- Experience in conducting assessments before and after ophthalmic surgeries and working collaboratively within surgical teams.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of delivering clear, empathetic explanations of diagnoses, treatment options, and prescriptions.
- High attention to detail with an emphasis on accurate documentation, compliance with clinical protocols, and commitment to ethical standards and patient safety.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic hospital environment, managing multiple cases and responsibilities efficiently with strong organizational skills.
- Preferably prior experience within a hospital or specialized eye care center setting and familiarity with NABH quality standards.
